[ in all honesty, vil still isn't exactly pleased with how the situation turned out.

it's been a while since he stepped through what was supposed to be the open doorways of the pomefiore ballroom and instead walked in on-- well, whatever south sister is supposed to be, and it's difficult not to be frustrated when he's just one of many people in an untenable situation, with no way out if what he hears from the other peo--wickies, he reminds himself, is accurate.

but vil endures.

because he has to - even if he's stuck in a situation that he dislikes immensely, there's no time to waste, and there's always something to do, to work on.

(maybe sooner rather than later he'll manage to find something that will bring him home, although a part of him dreads how much he will have to catch up on once he returns, what he has left in his absence.)

but for now, vil is in thready or knot. the table that he's currently occupying is filled with various fabrics - furs and linens, wools and wovens, set out in neatly organised piles with accompanying patterns and accessories laid out next to the sewing machine at the workspace that he's claimed for himself.

the mannequin standing before him is very kindly functioning as a model and dressform for him, a coat in royal purple and a white fur-lined collar draped over its form as vil furiously mutters to himself, pinning stray fabric in place such that it (tries to?) conform to the mannequin's body. ]

No, this won't do... it doesn't look right, the fabric doesn't drape correctly. Maybe if I swapped it out to nylon instead so that it would be waterproof-- don't look at me like that.

[ the mannequin continues to stare, blankly, and vil is fairly certain that if it were a real person it would probably roll its eyes at him.

it's just perfectionism, but vil still isn't satisfied with the way the coat looks - if he's going to wear it, it better damn well fit properly.

vil takes the coat off the mannequin and turns back to his workstation, leafing through threads and fabrics again and resuming his work.

behind him, he doesn't watch the mannequin vanish - leaving without a trace. ]
